CH 2203 - Biochemistry


A systematic survey of the major biological molecules, including proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids is presented. General principles of biochemistry are introduced and the interlay of molecular structure and function is discussed. Topics may include: protein architecture, enzyme kinetics and mechanisms, carbohydrate structure and functions, and the central metabolic pathways. Prerequisite: Principles of Organic Chemistry Lecture and Laboratory or Organic Chemistry I Lecture and Laboratory. 3 hours Lecture - 3 credits
