LAES 4045 - Soil Chemistry

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the chemical properties and processes of soils, emphasizing their role in environmental systems and land management. Students will study topics such as soil mineral weathering, nutrient cycling, ion exchange, and oxidation-reduction reactions, focusing on how these processes impact plant growth, ecosystem health, and environmental sustainability. The course also examines the interactions between soil components and contaminants, providing insights into issues relevant to environmental remediation and water quality. With a strong foundation in applied chemistry, this course is designed to prepare students for careers in soil and environmental fields, as well as for advanced study and professional certification in the discipline.

Prerequisite(s): LAES-2004 Soils, CH-1103 General Chemistry I, CH-1203 General Chemistry II, and MP-1203 Elementary Functions.
