LAES 9911 - Tropical Plant Mgmt-Resp to Climate Chg

While most students are familiar with temperate region plant material and exterior landscape design/architecture and maintenance, tropical and subtropical plant vocabularies are mostly lacking. The exterior design uses of these unique plants in tropical and sub-tropical areas, and in indoor gardens and seasonal containers all over the world are seldom covered in plant based programs offered by colleges and universities located in temperate regions. The culture and management of tropical and sub-tropical plant material is also often ignored. Tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world are expanding due to climate change and represent a large portion of the globe. The purpose of this course is to expand the knowledge and skills of students so that they can better compete as plant, design and management professionals in all regions of the globe.
