SA 4020 - One Health Capstone: Climate Change

The objective of this course is to take a transdisciplinary approach to introduce students to elements of climate change and the impacts on a species, regional and global scale. The One Health concept, indicating that the wellbeing of animals, people and the environment are inextricably linked, will be emphasized throughout the course. In class, we will discuss the physical/chemical factors that impact global climate systems and climate change, evidence that climate change is occurring and how it impacts physical and biological systems, projections of future climate, possible means of reducing impacts of climate change, and planning to reduce the impact of climate change on humans and biodiversity. Readings will be provided by the instructor and the students. Discussions will be fostered by the review of scientific literature that provides case studies provided for group review. Participation by every student is essential to this course.
