CJ 3005 - Social Movements, Protests & Conflict This course explores the sociology of social movements, with a specific focus on the criminal justice system. The objectives of the course are twofold: 1) To introduce students to the various frameworks, concepts and theories developed by sociologists and other social scientists so we understand the emergence, nature, and dynamics of social movements and protest; and 2) To learn about US-based and global political movements by exploring actual empirical cases of social movements in late 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.
