SLP 7020 - Motor Speech Disorders


In this course students will examine the neuroanatomy and neurophysiological principles underlying motor speech disorders, in the context of speech production theory and neurological disease in which motor speech disorders are symptomatic.  Students will identify contributing etiologies, compare assessments techniques, differentiate motor speech disorder diagnoses, and apply the evidenced based principles of rehabilitation to acquired motor speech disorders. This course aims to develop skill competencies necessary for preventing, assessing, diagnosing, and treating motor speech disorders.Students will have an opportunity to synchronously apply clinical theoretical concepts to real persons in real-time. 3 credits
