SLP 6000 - Clinical Writing and Diagnostics


This course will focus on the foundations of clinical practice including, but not limited to, pertinent research, interpretation of test results, and discussion of the implications of the diagnostic findings in a total rehabilitation process. Evaluating norm- and criterion-referenced information for diagnostic, treatment, referral, and termination decisions will be discussed. This course will also go over typical evaluation processes of speech-language pathology and proper documentation techniques, including how to write evaluation reports, goals, and therapy notes. Clinical report writing elements will be analyzed while developing student clinical writing skills. In addition, selected simulation cases will be integrated within the course that complement the knowledge and skills the students received in coursework up to this point. 3 credits.
