EN 3083 - Fanfiction Writing Workshop

This course is a 3000-level workshop that will provide students an opportunity to explore style, adaptation, and interpretation through the medium of fanfiction. Fanfiction is an entirely crowd-sourced media that has gained global attention in recent years through the open-access Archiveofourown.org (AO3) and the growing field of Fan Studies. In this course students will read a variety of authors from classics like Shakespeare to modern fanfiction writers on AO3. We will write a series of fanfics around the most common tropes in fandom: the AU, domestic fiction, shipping, and cross-fandom mashups. 3 Credit Lecture.
