EN 3069 - Writing for Social Justice


In this course, students will learn, through critical reading and rhetorical analyses of texts and through creating their own texts, how writing can promote social justice. Several different genres will be studied. Along with discovering how genre can affect the overall success of an appeal for justice or change, students will examine how the components of the rhetorical situation and rhetorical devices contribute to the effectiveness of writing for social justice. Students will prepare and publish several texts aimed at making a positive difference regarding a social issue of concern. 3 credits lecture
