MAM 6030 - Ag & Food Policy

This course focuses on the development and implementation of agricultural policy in the U.S. and its relationship to other public policies. Topics include the design and structure of the Farm Bill; policies related to domestic and international food security; nutrition; food safety; sustainability; and the environment. The course also looks at past and present policy tools, levers, and/or mechanisms to align agricultural production and environmental outcomes. To navigate these landscapes, students explore what goes into creating a food and agricultural system in which environmental stewardship and farmer profitability are complementary goals, and not competing priorities.
