EN 3081 - Playwriting/Screenwriting

This course is a 3000-level workshop that will provide students an opportunity to explore how elements of composition like dialogue, structure, and pacing have shaped modern playwriting. Playwriting stands apart as the only course aimed directly at the composition of drama. In this course students learn the theoretical underpinnings of writing for performance and the literary devices unique to the stage. Students will write several major plays beginning with a focus on scene and building towards a comprehensive production. 3-credits lecture.
